Second Chances

Second Chances

Kassidy stopped at the entrance to the building and paused. Her heavy breathing wasn't the only indication of her nervousness. although it was the most obvious. She knew she had to do it, but that didn't mean she wanted to. She supposed she could wait a while. Maybe, a few months, maybe a year. Was it already too late? The advertisement indicated that it wasn't. If you could trust an Ad.

Still, Kassidy's boys were twelve and ten, if they were going to have a fresh start it would be better to go sooner than later. She didn't have any intention of telling the boys. She would regress them, and they would never know.

Kassidy screwed up her courage, opened the door, and entered the building. She looked around, it was a modern facility. It looked very high-tech. She wasn't sure what she was expecting to see. She supposed high-tech was appropriate. Maybe in the back of her mind, she expected a more homey feel.

"Can I help you?" the receptionist asked. The receptionist was a pretty young woman, she couldn't be older than 22 or 23, with curly brown hair, brown eyes, rosy cheeks, and full lips.

"I want to see some...er...about my boys."

"Let's see, Mrs. Ebb looks free. Go to room 207. Second floor, turn left when you get off the elevator. The fourth door on the right."

"Thank you."

Kassidy walked down the elevator and pressed the button. The door opened immediately. She got in, got to the second floor, and followed the directions to Mrs. Ebb's office. Kassidy knocked on the door.

"Come in," was heard from within the office.

Kassidy opened the door and entered. Mrs. Ebb was sitting behind a desk opposite the door in front of a large window. She was a plump woman dressed professionally in a lavender suit of approximately 45 years. She got up and offered her hand.

"Hello, I'm Kassidy Gression.

"Welcome Kassidy. I'm Mrs. Ebb. How can I help you?"

"It's my boys."

"Boys? You have more than one that needs our service?"

"Yes, two, they are twelve and ten. They need a 'Second Chance'...a fresh start."

"That is what we are here for. How far do you want to go back?"

"To the beginning."

"New born?"

"No, not that far, but close. I'm thinking one-year-old. When they are old enough to walk, but don't know anything."

"That is more like 18 months. A toddler can walk without holding onto anything at 18 months. At 15 months they can walk if they hold onto something. Maybe take a couple of steps on their own."

"I think 15 months might be better."

"At that age, they can say a few words, not nothing like sentences or even three or four-word phrases. They know what 'No' means. Of course, they won't be ready for the start of potty training for over a year. Maybe two years."

"I want them to start very young. you see, I don't want them to grow up as boys this time."

"I see."

"And if they are going to be girls, I don't want them to even know what they are when they start. I'll make sure they are, you know, very girlie right from the start."

"You want them to start at the same age?"

"Yes, they are two years apart now. I want them to be the same age."

"You'll raise them like twins."

"I suppose."

The questions that Kassidy was dreading were never asked. "Why are you regressing your sons?" "Why are you making them into girls?" It surprised her that neither of these questions were asked.

"If you are sure, then that won't be a problem. Let's work on the paperwork and get this done.

What are their names?"

"Jackson is my twelve-year-old and Liam is ten."

"Got it, what do you want their names to be after?"

"Jennifer and Lauren."

You said you want them to fifteen months?"

"Yes."

"When the procedure is done, we will reissue you birth certificates with their new date of birth. Exactly fifteen months from the date of the procedure."

"New birth certificates?"

"Of course, this is completely legal."

"I just hadn't thought about that."
